My Cozy Autumn Bucket List

Autumn has always been my favorite season. After the busy days of summer, I love when the air gets cooler, the leaves begin to change, and life naturally starts to slow down.

One of my favorite traditions is creating a bucket list at the beginning of every season. I love sitting down with a cup of tea and writing a list of little things I’d love to do – from long autumn walks and cozy movie nights to baking something homemade on a rainy afternoon.

The funny thing is, I almost never complete every single item – and that’s never the goal. My bucket list is simply there to inspire me to slow down, make beautiful memories, and enjoy the season before it passes by.

So here’s my cozy autumn bucket list for this year. I hope it inspires you to make this autumn feel a little more special too.

Bake Cinnamon Rolls

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls filling the house on a rainy autumn afternoon.

Cinnamon rolls have become so popular over the past few years, especially during autumn — and honestly, I completely understand why. They’re warm, soft, sweet, full of cinnamon, and are the perfect cozy treat for a chilly day.

I love making them myself and turning the whole thing into a slow autumn afternoon. I put on some relaxing music, light a candle, make myself a cup of tea, and simply enjoy being in the kitchen.

For me, that’s one of the best things about autumn: slowing down, baking something homemade, and enjoying an ordinary afternoon without feeling like you always have to be productive.

Carve a Pumpkin

I love carving pumpkins with my friends every autumn.

We always turn it into a little competition to see who can carve the funniest—or the scariest—pumpkin. We always end up laughing the whole time, and it’s become one of those traditions I look forward to every year.

Once it gets dark outside, we light the candles inside our pumpkins and admire everyone’s creations. It’s such a simple activity, but it always makes the season feel even more magical.

Go on a Scenic Nature Walk

One of my favorite autumn activities is walking through the forest.

Sometimes I listen to a podcast, but most of the time I simply enjoy the sounds of nature. There’s something about the colorful leaves, cool autumn air, and peaceful atmosphere that makes every walk feel like a little escape from everyday life.

For me, walking through nature almost feels like meditation. It helps me clear my head, slow down, and simply enjoy being in the moment.

Autumn really is the perfect season for long walks. The colorful leaves and cooler days only last for such a short time, so I always try to enjoy them as much as possible before the season passes by.

Have a Cozy Coffee or Tea Date

Whether it’s at home or in a little café, I absolutely love cozy coffee and tea dates during autumn.

It might sound a little funny, but whenever I put on a cute autumn outfit and meet my friends for coffee or tea, I somehow feel like I’m in a movie.

My favorite days are when it’s still warm enough to sit outside in a sweater or coat with a hot drink in front of me. There’s just something so cozy about sitting outside while the leaves are changing and enjoying a warm drink together.

My friends and I also love combining our coffee dates with a little autumn walk afterward. Honestly, autumn is just the best season for these simple little moments.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Visiting a pumpkin patch is one of those activities that instantly makes me feel like autumn has really arrived.

I love walking through all the different pumpkins, choosing my favorites, and of course taking way too many photos along the way. Being surrounded by pumpkins, colorful leaves, and all those beautiful autumn colors always puts me in the best mood.

I usually end up taking at least one pumpkin home with me — either to decorate my home or to make something delicious with it later.

It’s such a simple autumn activity, but for me, a pumpkin patch visit belongs on every autumn bucket list.

Watch a Fall Movie

Whether it’s a movie or a series, I love cozy evenings in front of the TV during autumn.

When the days get shorter and it gets dark outside earlier, staying home with a fluffy blanket, a warm cup of tea, and a few candles lit feels like the perfect evening to me. I especially love watching movies and shows that match the season and make everything feel even cozier.

Sometimes I’ll add a little snack, put my phone away, and turn it into a proper cozy night at home. Especially on rainy autumn evenings, I honestly wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Make Homemade Soup

As soon as the weather gets cooler, homemade soup becomes one of my favorite comfort meals.

Homemade pumpkin soup is especially hard to beat during autumn. It’s warm, creamy, comforting, and simply tastes so good after coming home from a long autumn walk.

I also love that autumn is harvest season. There are so many fresh seasonal ingredients available, which makes it the perfect time to try new recipes and spend a little more time in the kitchen.

I personally love trying new recipes, so autumn always gives me an excuse to cook something new and make the most of all the seasonal ingredients.

Collect Colorful Leaves

Even as an adult, I still love collecting beautiful autumn leaves during my walks. It’s such a simple little thing, but I love bringing a piece of that autumn feeling from the forest back home with me.

My favorite way to preserve them is in a flower press. If you don’t have one, placing the leaves between the pages of a book and putting something heavy on top works just as well.

After a few days, they’re beautifully pressed and ready to use for little autumn decorations, crafts, or simply to keep.

I think collecting leaves is also a lovely reminder to slow down and notice all the beautiful colors around us while they’re here.

Light a Fall-Scented Candle

Lighting a candle is one of the easiest ways to bring that cozy autumn feeling into my home.

As soon as the days get shorter and it gets darker outside, I love lighting a few candles around the apartment. It instantly makes everything feel warmer and more inviting.

Cinnamon, vanilla, and apple spice are some of my favorite scents for this time of year. Even such a small ritual can completely change the atmosphere and make an ordinary evening at home feel so much cozier.

Enjoy a Bonfire Night

A bonfire or fire pit is such a cozy way to spend an autumn evening. Sitting outside with blankets, warm drinks, and the sound of the fire in the background feels perfect for this time of year.

If you have an autumn birthday like me, I also think this would be such a fun birthday party idea. Set up a fire pit outside, invite a few friends, and roast sausages or bread on sticks over the fire.

Of course, always be careful around an open fire and make sure you have a safe place to set everything up.

Add some cozy blankets, good food, and your favorite people, and you have the perfect autumn evening.

Decorate for the Season

Decorating for autumn is something I look forward to every single year.

Over the years, you can slowly build a little collection of autumn decorations that you bring out every season. But you really don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your home feel cozy and autumnal.

I love bringing nature inside too. Colorful leaves, pinecones, branches, and chestnuts from a forest walk are perfect for decorating. Add a few pumpkins or create a simple autumn centerpiece with a candle and things you collected outside.

I love how even a few little autumn touches can make my home feel completely different.

Be Thankful & Celebrate the Little Things

This might be my favorite item on the entire list.

Autumn is such a beautiful reminder to slow down, be grateful, and appreciate the little things.

Take the time to really enjoy the season while it’s here. Sit down, make your own little autumn bucket list, and think about the things that would make this season special for you. Maybe some of my ideas will help you create a list of your own.

And most importantly, don’t take your bucket list too seriously. You don’t have to complete every single thing. It’s simply there to inspire you to enjoy the season, make a few beautiful memories, and appreciate the little moments along the way.
